ACARA F-10 Curriculum | The national curriculum for students enrolled from Kindergarten (or Foundation) to Year 10. Usage: The ACARA F-10 Curriculum applies to all States and Territories of Australia. |
ACARA Senior Secondary Curriculum | The national curriculum for students enrolled in Year 11 and Year 12. Usage: The ACARA Senior Secondary Curriculum applies to all States and Territories. |
Account | An entity associated with one or more individual Contacts in your EDA org. An Account is typically used to represent significant areas of study and represent groups and organizations, both internal and external to your institution. Examples of usage: Household, Administrative, Educational, Institution, Department, Academic, Program, etc. |
Achievement Grade | Used for K-10 student assessment. It comprises of five levels from A-E. Usage: Billy received an achievement grade of C for his Year 3 English test. |
Applicant | An Applicant is a prospective student who is applying to your institution. |
Application | An Application tracks information about a prospective student's application to your institution, from submission through to a decision. |
Attendance Event | An Attendance Event stores information about a student's attendance. |
Attribute | An Attribute is a quality, condition, status, history, achievement, specialty, trait, or other long term characteristic associated with a Contact and their Contact Record. |
Australian Curriculum Assessment Reporting Authority (ACARA) | The government body responsible for Australia's national school curriculum. Usage: ACARA is responsible for determining the assessment grading guidance for schools. |
B-12 | A term encompassing pre-school years prior to Kindergarten. The B stands for Birth. Usage: Riverbanks College is a B-12 school. |
Base Calendar | The Base Calendar is the foundation layer calendar for a school on top of which all days of a year are marked in some way relevant to the school calendar. |
Case | A Case tracks a constituent's questions, feedback, or issues. |

Cohort | A cohort is the term PosiEd uses for a group of students and it can take many forms. It can be an academic class (e.g. Year 10 Art), a co-curricular organisation (e.g. Rugby Team) or the group going on an excursion etc. |
Connected App | A connected app is a framework that enables an external application to integrate with Salesforce using APIs and standard protocols. |
Contact | A Contact is a student, faculty member, alumni, or other person related to the educational institution. |
Course | A Course is a particular subject and subject level taught at a particular grade, for example Year 8 English. Salesforce defines Course as an academic course offered by a Department or School (the degree-granting Account entity at your institution). |
Course Connection | A Course Connection is the connection between a Contact (either a student or faculty) and a Course Offering (specific occurrence of a Course). It also contains information such as the Course Grade and the Contact's Academic Program (if applicable). |
Course Offering | A Course Offering joins a Course and a Term to store information about a specific occurrence of a Course. |
Course Offering Schedule | A Course Offering Schedule joins a Course Offering to a Time Block to provide a way to specify the days and location for a Course. |
Course Record | Serves as a Course ID which is a unique designator for the course, for example, Year 8 English |
Custom Price Book Entry | Custom price book entries are the custom (list) prices for the products and services in your custom price books. Custom price book entries can be created only for products with active standard price book entries. In Lightning Experience, Product detail pages display the Standard Price related list and the Price Books related list as a single Price Books related list. |
Education Data Architecture (EDA) | Education Data Architecture - refers to Salesforce terminology used to define the objects in its education platform data model. |

EDVAL | EDVAL is a major provider of software solutions for school time block and calendar management. |
F-12 | An alternative term for K-12. The F stands for Foundation. Usage: Australia has a national curriculum for F-10 students. |
Facility | A Facility is the location of a class or other property asset. |
Flow | Flow refers to Salesforce flows which are groups of code which make up components which perform specific functions and routines. |
LWC | Lightning Web Component. This is a technical component of Salesforce used by developers. |
Movement (Movement Record) | A movement is when a contact is known to move from location to another and whose presence must be tracked accordingly. |
NPC | Non-Profit Cloud |
P-12 | An alternative term for K-12. The P stands for Preparatory. Usage: Woodhills School has enrolments available for P-12 students. |
Period | Refers to the instance of a school class, with a defined Day, Date, Start & End. We refer to Period 1, Period 2, etc. Also referred to as Session. |
Plan Requirement | A Plan Requirement is the various course requirements for completing a Program Plan. See "Program Plan". |
Preparer | Preparer is a person who prepares or supports the preparation of an application upon behalf of a prospective student. |
Price Book - Custom | A custom price book is a separate list of products with custom prices, called list prices. Custom price books are ideal for offering products at different prices to different market segments, regions, or other subsets of your customers. Create a separate price book for each set of customers that you want to address. For example, if you have one set of prices for domestic customers and another for international customers, create a domestic price book and an international one. |
Price Book - Standard | The standard price book is the master list of all your products and their default standard prices. Salesforce creates the standard price book when you start creating product records. It includes all your products and their standard prices regardless of any custom price books that include those products. |
Program Enrolment | Program Enrolment is a student's ( or contact's) enrolment in an academic program offered by a Department or School (the degree-granting Account entity at your institution). |
Program Plan | A Program Plan links Courses to an Academic Program to create a path for students to follow. An Academic Program can list multiple Courses, and a Course can be associated with multiple Academic Programs. |
Relationship | The relationship between two contacts |
Session | Refers to the instance of a school class, with a defined Day, Date, Start & End. We refer to Session 1, Session 2, etc. Also referred to as Period. |
Standard Price Book Entry | Standard price book entries are the default (standard) prices for the products and services in the standard price book. When you create a product record, Salesforce creates a standard price book entry. You can mark the standard price book entry as active or inactive, depending, for example, on whether you intend to start selling the product right away. |
Term | A Term is a period of the academic year when your institution is in session. For example, semester, trimester, or quarter. For example: Fall 2022, Spring 2023. |
Term Grade | A Term Grade stores student grades for a specific grading period within a Term. |
Time Block | A Time Block is the specific Time Block associated with a Course Offering |
Vocational Education and Training (VET) | VET is a sector of the Australian education framework. It is technically classified as tertiary education because it is designed for post-secondary students. However, secondary school students can also complete a full or part VET qualification. Usage: The VET sector has a range of qualifications and courses, including Business, Engineering, Science, Marketing and more. |
