Recurring Donations - PosiGive

A Recurring Donation is a gift a donor gives on a schedule or as instalments on a larger donation.

For nonprofit organisations and charities, recurring donations are a crucial and reliable source of revenue. Many dedicated donors contribute over several years and may choose to increase their pledges as their commitment to the mission deepens. This financial support enables nonprofits to plan long-term projects and sustain their programs, fostering a strong community of engaged supporters.

The system supports two kinds of recurring donations:

  1. Open-ended Recurring Donations: A donor gives a gift of a single donation amount at regular intervals with no set end date.

  2. Fixed-length Recurring Donations: A donor gives a gift of a single donation amount at regular intervals for a defined or set period.

Recurring Donations support a range of features which make fundraising easy, efficient and accurate. These include:

  • Recurring donations can be entered through Single Gift Entry or Batch Gift Entry.

  • Recurring donation can be of virtually any recurring cycle. For example, every three weeks, every month, every 28 days etc.

  • Donations can be paused or cancelled, including setting a Cancel Date in the future.

  • The regular giving amounts can be varied at any time, including scheduling this for the future.

  • We support tracking of upgrade campaigns so that you can identify the proportion of new gifts attributable to the upgrade campaign.

  • You can view both the history and medium-term future of a regular gift, including successful and unsuccessful transactions, when transactions are planned for the future.

  • You can change the payment details such as updating expired card details or changing to an alternative payment method.

  • Both Credit Card and Direct Debit payment sources are fully supported.

  • Through PosiPay and Stripe, we support soft and hard decline management, including automated and intelligent retries.
