Managing WIT Web Page Titles and URLs - WIT

Page Titles - Background

Web page titles are the names of each web page you see on the internet. For instance, if you go to https://google.com.au , you will see the word 'Google' on the active tab of the browser. This is the page title of that particular web page. Or, if you go to https://alphasys.com.au/about , you will see that the page title is 'About Posimente - Human-centred Technology'. A web page title is metadata, usually configured in the 'head' of the HTML making up the page.

In Salesforce, web page titles are specified in Experience Builder, which is the back-end for administering the WIT donation pages.

How to Change a WIT Web Page Title

In your system, go to Setup.

Search for All Sites.

Choose which site to modify. (In our example, we choose 'Fundraising')

You will get the main page of the Builder, and possibly a step-through guide, which you can follow or cancel.

Click on the drop-down arrow next to ‘Home' to get the page’s menu.

Click on the three dots and select 'Page Settings'.

This will bring up the following configuration settings (image condensed):

Change the page Title to whatever you want.

Click the Publish complete the change.

Page URLS - Background

Where 'Google' is the page title for https://google.com.au , the later is the page URL. With standard HTML coding, URLs are managed in the website designer or creator.

In Salesforce, managing URLs is a bit different because you don't have total control over the entire URL. When you create a new site, you are using the base Salesforce Experience Cloud site URL, plus a page URL. You can modify the name of the page, and the end word URL, such as changing it from 'multi-screen' to 'spring appeal'. You can change the name of the page to match your needs, or the name of the campaign for instance.

How To Change A WIT Page URL

Follow Steps 1-6 of How To Change A WIT Web Page Title until you have opened ‘Page Settings’.

Name represents the working name of the page inside Salesforce Experience Cloud Builder. This is for internal use only and should have a relevant working name.

URL represents the base URL for this donation web page. This URL is what automatically generates the URL for the same donation page type in the Public Forms section of the Web Integration Toolkit Settings:

Change the URL as desired, using only alphanumeric characters, hyphens, and no spaces

Click Publish to complete the change.

To test and confirm the change is successful, go to a campaign with the same Base URL. Go to the Web tab and find the Campaign URL. The changed URL should be reflected in the address. Click on the Campaign URL to confirm that still works.

Caution: When you change the address, you must also update any menu items, links, buttons or any other places where the old address still exists. If you don't the links won't work.
