Subject and Subject Offering - PosiEd
Subject
A subject is a specific academic or other type of subject offered by the school generally to a particular grade level for example Year 8 Maths 1. This object defines the subjects available and provides certain defaults to other objects and processes such as the Subject Offering object.
Grade Level
A multi-select list of the Grade Levels that this subject is offered to. Most subjects will only have a single Grade Level but some such as sports, music programs, cocurriculars, etc might include multiple.
Department
This is linked to the Department responsible for this Subject.
Subject Code
Default subject code for all Subject Offerings & Cohorts - Eg. "07MAT" The subject code should match the class code in Edval or your timetable software.
Subject Name
Plain English Name of the Subject.
Description

Mark Roll
If the Mark Roll Defaults field is set via the Cohort, then this value allows you to set the initial default at the Subject level. This then flows up to the Subject Offering, and then to the Cohort level. At each level, the default value can be overridden.
Include in Academic Report
all academic subjects must have that ticked otherwise it won’t produce a report card for the resulting Cohorts. If this is ticked or activated it needs component and sort order to be set up.

This is the order in which the pages in the academic report are in. If you want English to always come first, you would set English as 1, etc.
Subject Group
Group different types of Subjects by some priorities that the school has.
Subject Offering
A Subject Offering is a specific subject offered in a specific term, usually a calendar year. For example, Year 8 Maths1 was offered in 2023. This object defines the subject offerings.
Certain default values are passed to the Subject Offering object from the Subject object and the Subject Offering object contains fields that provide certain defaults to the Cohort object.
Timetable Structure
Defines the Timetable Structure associated with this Subject Offering for the purpose of generating timetables and calendars.
Timetable Term
Defines which of the Timetable Terms from the Timetable Structure is to be used to determine the Start and End Dates for the purpose of generating calendars.
